Always Learning

I'm learning to stick to my guns. Or maybe I picked that up this summer, I don't know. But I just sent an email that was quite a bit more sticking-to-my-guns than I have ever been in the past. I didn't acquiesce, I didn't reduce what I was willing to receive in exchange for what I was offering; I simply stated the reasoning behind my request, and the value on the other side. There was a nagging Little Libby in there, saying, "But what if they gets sad and then they no like you and you have no happy?" But I hit send anyway. At some point in the last few months, I got tired of Little Libby.

I'm trying to gear up to pursue a license (or ten) for my artwork and while I am quite apprehensive, someone said the other day, "What's the worst that can happen? They'll say no." True.

I asked another artist the other day if she was ever nervous at first and she said, "Honey, I'm a New Yorker. They're LUCKY I'm offering to ALLOW them to use my art."

A month ago, a company did say no, thank you, and my internal reaction was surprising: Your loss!

So I suppose I'm stronger than I give myself credit for. Onward and upward!
