1. America. No matter what's going on in health care, or the economy, or whatever is tickling our ears on the evening news, this is still a GREAT place to live. I remember being in Thailand a few years ago, and visiting a village in, quite literally, the middle of NOWHERE. There was a young mother, probably not even 20, with a tiny baby with sores all over his body. There was no doctor, no hospital for miles and miles, much less health insurance or even DHS, for this mother to find some help or consolation. Her baby was dying and all she could do was watch and pray. Bark all you want about Obama or healthcare or whatever. This is a great place to live.
2. My family. I have a wonderful, wonderful husband and family. Supportive, interesting, available, strong. I am so grateful. I hope to be a fraction as good to them as they are to me.
3. My work. I love what I do and am excited about the future. I know how rare that is.
4. My home. We bought a house! I'm so proud of my husband for being so smart with money and saving for the down payment. I'm so happy.
5. I have a great dog. :) She's so easy to live with.
6. I'm a little overweight. This means I've got plenty to eat.
7. I can run to remedy #6. This means I have two legs that work.
8. I have faith, and know not to take that for granted.
9. I have awesome friends. I genuinely believe I know the best humans on the planet. I often get off the phone or email and wonder, how did I score such a great friend?
10. My husband isn't at war over the holidays. Or ever.
11. No swine flu for us.
12. This is dork, but I have a fireplace and a big bathtub. I know that life would go on without them, but icing, folks. Icing.
I know there's more, but we're driving across Kansas, in our car that works, to see my family, that is healthy and warm, to eat a big fat bird together, and my eyes hurt from staring at this tiny screen. Life is SO good. God is SO very good to us. Thank you.
