This Is Stupid. Incredibly Stupid.

You know why? Because I can't tell you. I am on the verge of tears tonight about a situation and I am not allowed to say a WORD about it -- for legal reasons. I'm not being dramatic; I really, truly can't leak a word of it to any living soul. But the situation is breaking my heart. I can't get my head around it and can't even think clearly enough to know where to begin to accept this.

I will tell you:
- I don't believe God is up there, watching us, looking for us to do wrong so he can put the smackdown on mankind, however, I also don't believe He is completely unaware and unaffected by the things He sees. And I hope, in my vengeful, angry heart of hearts, that He's watching and He sees this and He's uber-pissed in an Almighty God Who CAN Put The Smackdown On Mankind kind of way.
- The law is ridiculous. For our hyper-selfish, litigious society, we have all these "you'd better or else" laws flying around and you know what? It's backfiring on the defenseless. And that makes me really angry. Livid, in fact.
- I am positively infuriated that we don't do what's right when it's right just because it's f-ing right. We have to look around for whose job is on the line and whom we can sue into doing what's right before what's right is done. "Oh, my job is on the line? OK, yes, of course, I'll do it." "You'll sue the sh*t out of me if I don't? OK, I'll do it." Whatever happened to "This is the right thing to do? OK, I'll do it, even if it's inconvenient."?
- Your children never stop being your responsibility. Ever. Even if you think you can somehow shirk that responsibility, you can't.
- If your kids disappoint you, tough. Every human in all of history has been a disappointment at some point. Get used to it. It's not your ticket out.
- Lots of people die at the hands of others, legally, every day in this country. God help us all.
