Yesterday, Matt & I celebrated our 2nd anniversary. Yay! We went to Macaroni Grill and ate some really yummy, low-calorie, fat-free stuff. The yummy part is true. In a way, it feels like we just got married; in another way, it seems like there was never a time when we weren't married. We actually got each other the same anniversary card... Ha. We went to the Royal Gorge on the 4th as an anniversary trip and had a lovely, death-defying time (the cable car LOST POWER half way across and I cussed in front of a small child). Pics are on my Facebook page. If we're friends, you can see them. If we're not friends, well, that's something else entirely.
A couple of updates:
- Pregnancy is going well. There's a definite hard spot in my tummy, and all the symptoms are in full swing. 12 weeks! Looking forward to (and willing into being) the magical, symptom-free 2nd trimester.
- My least favorite symptom is what I've heard referred to as "baby brain", but I'm going to call it "I feel completely retarded about 95% of the time." Being so very Type A, a Cancer, First Born, and a Taggart, I am very time-, list- and schedule-oriented. Therefore, waking up and genuinely not knowing what day it is, realizing somehow I got to the grocery store but I have no idea why, searching high and low for something that is in my hand, and failing to form complete sentences (I'll buy a vowel) is funny for about 30 seconds and then it starts to feel like the Twilight Zone.
- People have asked if I have a "feeling" about the sex of the baby and I've replied "no". I'm normally an "I've got a feeling" kind of person, but not this time. However, in the last week or so, I've had a feeling. :) Asking about this will get you nowhere, regardless of familial or social proximity to said feeling. I'm just saying, I've got a feeling. So does Matt. :) We'll know for sure in about 8 weeks (well, for sure-ish), and we'll let you know then!
- We finished sealing the basement! HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF! We have to waterproof it because a.) it leaks, which is inconvenient because b.) the guest room is going down there because c.) the guest room is becoming the baby's room and d.) Josh is moving in next week and I can't imagine putting his stuff in the middle of a puddle. So it's done! Yay! Let the decorating begin! It's very frustrating when I have a thousand ideas bouncing around in my head, but everything has to happen in order. NOW, I can do stuff! And yay for Matt, because smudging that sealant stuff on every inch of the unfinished basement walls was less fun than a root canal. But at least this is done. My root canal still hurts.
- Did you know that painting wood paneling is neither as fun, nor as easy as it sounds? I'm revamping our laundry room, which is floor-to-ceiling wood paneling, trimmed in dark wood. Yuck. Facelift!
- I'm still plugging away at work when I have the energy. I'm working on a set of video tutorials + eBook for textile designers. I think it's going to be really helpful, and I am hoping for rave reviews and lots of sales. :) It's been fun, tapping into my video editing and book-writing skills. I'm ready to move on and do something else, but am also enjoying this process. I don't know that I'll become a full-time tutorial-izer, but I do enjoy teaching and exploring the nuances of software. Which might make me kind of sick in the head.
